Philosophical Moments

March 6, 2011

I’m no Aristotle but I’m curious about the world in general. How can you not be??? I question a lot of things – things that make sense and those that don’t. I try to increase my awareness of the world whether through conversations, TV, books, magazines. I think I now own the knowledge that everyone is seeking:)

I need to start writing my philosophical moments down; with the name “nutty philosopher” it comes with the territory.

On Being Human

1. I think it’s pretty hard being a human being. You are made up of different elements. You have to take care of your physical, mental and spiritual self to achieve a good balance in life. If something is off, then it affects the rest. It could be something as simple as getting enough sleep. I have sleep issues which is a nightmare to deal with. If you can’t sleep you become depressed, unproductive, mental, you name it.

Religion

1. I don’t understand religion and never will especially Christianity. If Christians believe in ONE God, why the division in Church and so many denominations??? Growing up I attended so many different Churches. If someone asked me what denomination I was, I could not tell you. Even if I did, I didn’t know what it meant.

Closet Status

March 6, 2011

I am a working professional, so my closet mostly consists of work clothes – in other words boring.  Let me not say boring, because people at work applaud my sense of style. I work in a business-casual environment where people hardly ever dress up. It’s mostly the 20-30 something year olds who take initiative to look nice. For a while, I did not have that many casual clothes.  I realized this especially on Casual Friday’s where you’re allowed to wear jeans and dress down. I would wear the same thing over and over again. Being that I’m tall, it’s hard for me to find well-fitted pants. Now I’m only down to one pair of ill-fitting jeans (yuck).

Another thing I realized is that I don’t own a lot of evening (not to be confused with clubbing) wear.  So if I happen to score a date, the big question is “what am I going to wear?” During college days our closets were filled with jeans, fashionable tops and clubbing-wear.  You had to look good in and out of class. I was too broke to afford nice clothes but I always found a way to get very cheap, nice-looking clothes.  My friends on the other hand were fashionistas.  When summer break was over and the weekend before classes resumed, we always got together to discuss how summer went, what we were wearing that night, drinks of choice and party/club location. Then they would unleash their new trendy clothes.  Lucky for me, they didn’t mind sharing clothes. Oh, I miss those days!!!

Now there’s no one to borrow clothes from. First of all, I live by myself and like how I dress.  I’m just tired of the shades of gray, black, brown, blue winter tones of my closet- I’m ready for spring to spring, so I can look all flowery, cheery and colorful.  I am happy to say that I wear all the items in my closet.  I am a very good shopper and only buy items that are versatile and can be worn throughout the year. I’ve invested in a lot of sheath dresses where you can switch the look but adding a cardigan and jewelry.

A few items that I would like/love to own:

1. A designer handbag

2. Boyfriend blazer

3. Leather jacket

4. Subtle, floral dresses

5. Good-fitting skinny jeans

6. Comfortable hills

BurnOut

March 2, 2011

My mental state is worrying.

I am officially burnt out from work.

I am considering calling in mentally sick for a month or just taking a really long lunch break and never returning to the office (actually I heard someone did this- hilarious).
